The aims of the Media A2 project

This is my A2 blogger webpage where all my developments, and work with my OCR Media Studies project will be posted and updated on a regualr basis.

The project for the A2 media coursework portfolio is to produce a film trailer of any genre and then a magazine front cover and poster to go with the film. The film is out of 40 and the blog, poster and magazine all out of 20 totalling an overall score of 100.

In order of maximizing my marks my coursework needs to be precise, delivered well and a quality end product. In order to understand the current market for each product I will have to do background research into the conventions of magazines, posters and of course the film trailer. Initially I will research everything on the market related to filming in terms of genre with posters and magazines and trailers but once I have analysed carefully the trailers from each genre I will then do further, more specific research into my desired genre. Before even selecting a genre I will weigh up the benefits and drawbacks of that genre so when filming I know to use the strengths to my advantage and avoid the weaknesses e.g. lighting problems.
My initial thoughts and ideas are that my genre will be a horror as comedy and thrillers may be difficult to film in terms of special effects with thrillers and actually hard to make an audience laugh with a comedy so horror was the initial favourite however this could change.
For my magazine I was planning to follow the layout of the magazine “Empire” which promotes films from a variety of genres and is a globally recognized selling magazine.
